Jana Hunt
Jana Hunt is a prize winning artist who paints and draws her subjects in a representational style. Jana graduated from College of Fine Arts (1990), UNSW and previous to that she was a full time student a St George TAFE art school. She was a finalist in The Dobell Drawing Prize, The Adelaide Perry drawing prize, the Mosman Art prize and the Paddington art prize for landscape, to name a few.
In recent years, her primary focus has been the still life genre however, her practise also examines the landscape where she sometimes zooms in on a fragment of the landscape around her. In effect there is a fragment of the sky, or the sea or the bush depicted in a way that hovers between the real and surreal, the realistic and gestural. Her ultimate goal is to find and represent beauty of the world around her.
‘FINDING AND EXPRESSING BEAUTY IN DECAY AND THE ORDINARY WHICH OFTEN RESULTS IN CONTEMPLATIVE AND EVOCATIVE IMAGES.’
